Notes from the Winery
Very deep black-crimson, The Boxer shows a full spectrum of flavours from fresh berries and plum, to fig and blackberry jam, surrounded by cinnamon spice, licorice, and lovely warm oak with hints of cigar box and tobacco. Soft luscious palate-coating fruit with incredible depth, combined with creamy chocolate oak layers producing a complex wine with amazing power.
Did you notice that The Boxer is a double Mollydooker?
The grapes were grown on the Longbottom vineyard in Padthaway, the Birchmore vineyard in Langhorne Creek and the Hunt Creek, Semmens and Mollydooker vineyards in McLaren Vale.
Barrel fermented and matured in 60% new and 40% one year old American oak.
Alc: 16% Residual sugar: 2.6g/L

Wine Advocate
‘Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 The Boxer Shiraz has notes of warm blackberries and blueberries with nuances of menthol, some spice cake, anise and bacon fat. Concentrated, big, rich and ripe, it offers a very spicy palate with some licorice and cumin seed coming through, supported by a medium level of velvety tannins, lively acidity and finishing very long. Drink it now to 2017+.’ – 91 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, www.erobertparker.com
Wine Spectator
‘Fresh and vibrant, this delivers a lively mouthful of dark cherry, mocha and bay leaf flavours that linger on the firm finish. Best after 2013. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.’ – Harvey Steiman, www.winespectator.com
