Happy New Year!

What’s New at Mr. Bill’s

It’s 2015 and we are well into our fifth year. Wow! We made it this far, quite successfully thank-you, because of you; our wonderful customers. We continue to grow and you will see more changes in the near future. You think the store is packed now? Well, the selection is going to grow even more.

Starting this January we will change our tasting program to better serve all. The set tastings we have had every Friday and Saturday will change. Instead of set times on those two days we will have tasty beverages open more often. Special beer and wine tastings will be announced on-going. Stay in touch with our emails, Facebook, Twitter, or website to know the latest happenings at Mr. Bill’s.

Look for more exciting announcements coming soon.

I can’t say enough about our staff at the store. Aaron, aka Snug Dawg, has been with us for most of our existence. He is our resident linguist, cartoon character, mixologist, and minister of all that’s serious. Nate, aka Warden, (he teaches 8th grade) is our resident chef and edumacator. Kristen, aka Dr. Winechic, is our resident doc and minster of keeping us all charged up. OK, we all do that to each other. Kristen is also our store manager. Rick is our resident beer geek. Harry is our resident boxologist. Mr. Bill’s wife, Betty, is in charge of trying to keep us in line. Poor girl, she doesn’t have a chance. Mandy, Mr. Bill’s daughter runs the whole show from her command central in Ashville, NC. Adam, Mandy’s husband (and so lucky to be my new son) is our resident musician. All of us play an important part in the crazy antics we can’t seem to live without. Never expect less from us.

Rest assured that anytime you come in the store you can get expert help with beer or wine. Good tunes guaranteed always. Mr. Bill’s shorts; always!

We pledge to continue to offer the best selection of beer and wine at the best prices. The inventory will be ever changing and exciting. We pledge to keep great tunes playing on one of the best sound systems to ever grace a bottle shop. We pledge to be one of the zaniest staffs ever.

Feel free to offer your suggestions to us. Thank you all so much for your continued support. Thanks so much for being such fun, entertaining, and enlightening friends. Because of you, we don’t work at Mr. Bill’s. We just have fun and look forward to your visits.

Friends; party on!

ABOUT THE WINERIES

Fincastle Vineyard & Winery

www.fincastlewine.com

Nestled in the Great Valley of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Fincastle Vineyard & Winery produces wines using traditional Bordeaux small scale techniques. From the vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay come wines pressed gently and aged in oak. After 10 years in the planning, David, Georgia, and their son, Richard opened Botetourt County’s first farm winery in 2003 with a special emphasis on quality and not quantity. According to the Virginia Wine Guide “Fincastle’s 2001 reds are beautifully handcrafted blockbuster wines, dark, lush and intensely flavored.”

Built into the hillside by our farmhouse, the winery is a gravity-fed operation, thus insuring the completely natural handling of the wine. The unique construction of the winery utilizes top-level in-ground primary fermentation storage, below which are three levels of barrel storage, providing for the downward flow of wine during racking.

The vineyard can be seen from the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 100. A simple desire to “do something with the land” has blossomed into a thriving vineyard where once there were only cows and hay.

Vinho Verde on SALE through Labor Day!

Vinho Verde is a grape varietal, grown in the “Vinho Verde” region of Portugal. Other wines can come from this region in Portugal, such as Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional and even wonderful blended Roses. But most commonly, this region is known for their production of Vinho Verde, white wine. Vinho Verdes are known for having lower alcohol by volume (8-9% ABV), making them easier to drink in the Summer Heat. Vinho Verdes are also known for having a slight bit of effervescence and vibrant acidity. Maybe not technically speaking, but for Americans, Labor Day is the perfect time to enjoy Vinho Verde!
